All-Party Parliamentary Group for Snooker hails National Governing Body Recognition

Members of Parliament have welcomed the decision of Sport England to recognise the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB) as the National Governing Body for snooker and billiards in England.

The Group was supportive of the sport’s recognition through EPSB, which restructured earlier this year, and congratulates all involved for successfully navigating what is an extensive and thorough process.

Speaking on behalf of the Group, Lincoln MP and Group Chairman Karl McCartney said “recognition by sports councils is essential for a sport’s growth and development.  It brings with it access to funding and opportunity to be part of the wider national sporting dialogue.

“As the sport’s response to COVID has shown, it is certainly worthy of its National Governing Body Status and, having been liaising with EPSB throughout, we know how thorough the application process is required to be.

“On behalf of the Group, I would like to congratulate all involved for their outstanding efforts in recent years and we are all looking forward to seeing the next steps for the sport in England.”
